At the heart of Italy's beautiful tuscan hills lies the old town of Volterra, famous for its medieval monuments and for its crafts in alabaster.
"Il Picchio" farm is situated 10 km between Volterra and Colle di Val d'Elsa taking the road for Spicchiaiola.
The "Il Picchio" farm is a small agricultural farm which produces, olive oil, wine and a variety of cereals.
Thanks to the renovation works carried out on a colonial house at the end of 1999 it is now ready to offer its hospitality.
The different products grown here offer a colorful view which can be enjojed following the noumerous paths which will take you on relaxing walks or bike rides.
"Il Picchio" farm is also open in the Winter, for those who prefer the Autunnal and Winter colours to the heat of the Summer. The surronding area is part of a well known national park "Oasi Naturale di Berignone e Tatti" inside the Fosci valley. This park is home to a large variety of wild animals: boars, bucks, moufflons and wild birds.
