"...home is not only a geographical place..." It is with this spirit that in 1994 the hotel La Porcinaia was born. Completely run by the family, this is a small, charming hotel with only 14 rooms decorated each in its own way in the typical Tuscan style: wrought-iron beds, grandmother-style bedside tables and valuable carvings. Of course, the love of tradition can't let us refuse modern comfort so each room also has cable TV, a safe, a mini bar and a hair dryer.Of these 14 rooms, 11 are located in the main structure, some having a terrace with a table and chairs where a breathtaking view of our mountains can be seen. The other three rooms are located in the annexe, otherwise known as our "uncle's house" because before becoming a tourist lodging, it used to be our aunt and uncle's home and even before, it had been "the small workshop" which our grandfather had built 50 years ago to produce small jars of mushrooms in oil.
When this building proved to be too small for the flourishing business, the large workshop was born (our present-day restaurant) where our grandfather cooked the mushrooms from our woods in large copper cauldrons which we still jealously preserve to this day. The mushrooms were cooked and put in oil in jars or were dried and then sent all over Italy. It's now easy to understand the reason behind such an unusual name for a hotel... "La Porcinaia" which in the typical Tuscan dialect means a precise place in the woods with an abundance of "porcini" mushrooms and we never lack them!!
The La Porcinaia "restaurant", with its mushroom and truffle based dishes, over time has become one of the finest restaurants with traditional cooking. Mamma Letizia has inherited her over forty-year-old passion for cooking from two previous generations of the family; first from her paternal grandfather who the town people say was famous for his ragout sauce which enraptured the neighborhood with its delicious smell and then from her father who prepared sumptuous banquets for the whole family and friends.
It was this great passion which prompted her, in 1979, to give birth to our restaurant, almost as a bet against herself because all that she knew she had learned through family tradition. It was an immediate success! However, the years, the experience, the desire to create and above all the dedication to this difficult and demanding profession which becomes almost an art, have enabled our restaurant to reach high levels and many rewards, even on an international level.
A tireless worker, Mamma Letizia still today personally handles all that regards the kitchen; from the choice of the ingredients (always of top quality) to the creation of the most imaginative dishes, from the fresh hand-made pasta to the typical desserts of our region, such as our famous "cantuccini". The son and daughter of the family see to the wine cellar, the table settings and the presentation in general. The atmosphere is very welcoming and is ideal for those who wish to combine excellent cooking with surroundings which are both family oriented and refined, but not too formal. Our guests dine by candlelight and when the first chills set in, one can enjoy the warmth of the large fireplace located in the dining room.

The hotel has its own outdoor parking lot, lift and garden area with table, chairs, deck-chairs and lounge chairs. From May to September, our clients can enjoy both the swimming pool and a small bar adjacent to the pool where a light lunch based on salad, an assortment of typical Tuscan cold cuts and many more surprises can be savored.
